How to Choose a POS Machine in Sri Lanka

Start with the work at the counter

A POS machine should fit the work your staff do during each transaction. List the items that need scanning, whether receipts are printed, whether cash is accepted and which POS software will run on the terminal. This gives you a clear device list before comparing displays or prices.

Choose a display setup

A single-display terminal can suit a straightforward billing point. A dual-display arrangement can be considered where a customer-facing display is needed. Compare the processor, memory, storage, screen size and ports published for each available terminal rather than assuming every model has the same capability.

Check the connected devices

A complete counter can include a barcode scanner, receipt printer and cash drawer. Check each device’s connection type and confirm it is supported by the operating system and POS software before ordering. Hardware compatibility is specific to the software and setup; it should be confirmed before purchase.
